The Grande Prairie & District Chamber of Commerce invites you to join the Canadian Society for Unconventional Resources (CSUR) as they discuss the emergence of the Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) industry in Canada. In collaboration with the Government of Alberta, CSUR will cover the basics behind this new and critically important industry; why it has emerged, what Canada and Alberta’s role will be going forward, and the potential value and opportunities for Albertans.
This information session is scheduled for Tuesday, September 17, 2019 from 1:30-3:00 PM in the Poplar Room at the Pomeroy Hotel & Conference Centre (11633 - 100 Street, Grande Prairie). There is no cost to attend but you must pre-register and, due to the limited space for this event, your registration will be confirmed in early September.
Natural gas is the cleanest burning fossil fuel, producing up to 50% fewer greenhouse gas emissions than coal for electrical generation, and far less particulate pollution. Countries around the world urgently want access to natural gas to provide clean, stable, reliable and affordable power while at the same time working to generate electricity from renewable energy sources.
Canada has immense natural gas resources which can be developed and shipped to overseas markets in tankers as super-cooled liquefied natural gas (LNG). This fuel, if used to displace coal fired power plants in Asia and India would have a significant global impact in reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions (GHG’s).
In addition, it’s important to recognize that Canadian energy regulations and best practices are second to none in protecting the environment and maximizing returns along the value chain for First Nations and other communities in Alberta and across Canada. This truly makes LNG a “Game Changer”.
